Looking at the Key Assist sheet it looks like the INSERT key should still work (INSERT = Toggle Overwrite, Shift+Command+INSERT = Toggle Insert), but it does nothing on my keyboard. In supported applications, pressing Help will bring up the help system. I missed it a lot because in Resharper the standard command to. I finally managed to figure out what the insert key is on my macbook pro.

Pressing the INSERT key does not toggle between insert and overtype mode (nor does it seem to do anything at all). FYI, the Mac OS doesnt need an Insert key, so Apple re-purposed and re-labeled it Help.

For Midnight Commander the answer is Ctrl+T. Well I use a MacBook and have never had an insert key so I’ve always had to do some mapping.īut I map toggleinsert to a key combo - not the ones you listed. I need the insert key in the Midnight Commander (MC) running in Terminal and in Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) when connecting to my Windows PC. Swapping between Mac & Windows input modes with Function O/P. Swapping between bluetooth and the receiver doesnt help. Its not a hardware issue with this keyboard - the key works fine when connected to a windows or linux machine using the same receiver. While the Insert key is usually a key of its own, it can also be a modified key in some cases (requiring the Fn modifier most of the time), so make sure to keep your eyes peeled when you’re looking for it. I’ve now mapped toggle insert to an unused key combination and I can now insert. I also have an MBP, but have a USB keyboard attached.
